Problem:

“Urban Renewal” projects funded by the federal government in the 1960’s led to the demolition of hundreds of downtown buildings.  This included Single Resident Occupant buildings that provided housing for the working poor.

Services Provided:

Market Research on depth of resident profile

Demographic profile

Interviews of service providers

Analysis of potential rental income and expenses

Recommendations on community design and unit mix

Outcome:

26 page market study report provided information from national, regional, and local resources and interviews with service providers which indicated for the first time the depth of the resident base for this type of housing.  Study is being used by local development community to develop tax credit housing for SRO, or first step living.
